The Rōnin (Shadow Series) "Nine" Blade Ronin (Shadow Series) “Nine” Blades are high quality blades that are individually hand grind which makes each blade individually unique. The Nine is the highest one-digit number and it has special meaning within the Asian culture. In Buddhism, it's represents the nine chambers to enlightenment and in Budo (the study of war) - it represents the nine attack patterns of a fix blade.
Tantō means short blade in Japanese and was traditionally worn by the samurai class of feudal Japan. During this period the tantō was designed primarily as a stabbing weapon, but the edge can be used for slashing as well. Traditionally the tantō was usually carried in conjunction with its companion blades. During battle the samurais will obtain employ their tantō blades for extreme close quarters battle.
The Ronin "tantō" Blade was designed by Tu Lam Former- US Army Special Forces (Green Beret) and produced by his friend Founder/ CEO of RFO Blades, LLC. The design and employment of the blade was to meet the needs of an effective blade during Force Protection and LOW-VIS operations while still enhancing the fighting methodology and style behind Ronin Tactics employment of the blade… mixing in variations of different styles from the Special Operations Combative Program (SOCP) and his understanding and mixture of other styles from Eskrima, Kali, Silat, JKD, Jiu-Jitsu. This blade was designed to be rapidly employed and used as a medium to extreme close quarters weapon.
The thumb ramp that runs down the spine to the handle has aggressive jimping which provides improved traction while employing either in a blade or saber position. The eyelits on the Ronin “Tanto” blades kydex sheath was designed to be carried either in a LOW VIS or tactical configuration and was made to work with any (Blade-Tech) clip on attachment. Attachment available at www.blade-tech.com. All Ronin “Tanto” Blades will come with a kydex sheath with para-cords and a tension lock. This setup will allow the user to quickly draw the blade from an appendix carry. This setup will allow the blade to safely pull away from the users body during employment.
