"The Way of the Warrior”.
A warrior’s code that originated from the Samurai moral values, the word encompasses the code of conduct and soul of the warrior, stressing utmost loyalty to serve for a higher cause other than self. To seek perfection in everything you do and emphasizing the mastering of one’s trade. This way of conduct allowed the violent existence of the Samurai to be tempered by wisdom and serenity. This balance allowed them to live with honor onto death.
“The Blade”
This Spartan-Harsey Folder (Special Edition-Bushido) is finished with a hand rubbed raw titanium frame with a Sakura (Samurai Oda Clan Symbol) placed at the pivot. Blade features a Damascus finish and bears the markings of Spartan Blades & Ronin Tactics. Each blade is engraved with the signature of Bill Harsey. The name Bill Harsey carries with it an immediate indication of a knife’s quality. These Spartan-Harsey Special Edition folders were designed by the acclaimed knife maker William W. Harsey Jr. himself (Father of the Green Beret Knife). Each blade was handcrafted by my friends and ex-teammates Curtis Lovito and Mark Carey (Co-Founders of Spartan Blades).
These knives were constructed from 100% pure 6AL-4V Titanium with the exception of the stop, pivot and blade. Blade also features both dual thumb studs and a reversible pocket clip, this will allow user to wield blade with either left or right handed. The construction and design of the blade is extremely effective in close quarters combat. The geometry and balance points on the blade allows for this small blade to be effective in close quarters blade tactics.
“Artwork Story”
After my time in service (23 yrs), I’ve traveled to Japan to further my education on the teachings of Bushido and the history on this code of living. During my travels, I’ve visited Miyamoto Musashi Cave (Reigando Cave). Musashi was a Japanese Master-Swordsman, Philosopher, Strategist, Writer and Rōnin. It was during this visit that I came across an old original Japanese Samurai Block Art print dated: 1858. Working with Spartan Blades, they were able to high-res scan this antique image. The Spartan Team used cutting edge laser technology and different temperature settings to engrave this timeless warrior image onto the blade. This method of engraving allowed for different spectrums of colors to be displayed as the blade moves. I am truly honored to have worked with Spartan Blades & Bill Harsey Jr. on this project and it is an honor that I get to share with others this piece of art of embodies the beauty of the Bushido Code. Each blade is SN# and bears the markings of a Ronin.
