History-
They say, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
My first step in life was one of war (Vietnam War), and I have seen many sufferings in my life, including my own, during my journey to become an American. As an American, I’ve served with the Special Forces A-Teams as a Green Beret helping to free those oppressed, and fighting for those defenseless.
The flag on my back was given to me by my step-father, a former Green Beret in 2001, and I have carried and flown this flag in every country ever since. This flag was to be wrapped around me if and when I departed from this world in a job where men die young. I never thought that I would make it to my retirement, it was neither a thought or a care. I'm not a war junkie but just a man that strongly believes in the good of this world and would give it all to defend it. This flag is a symbol of us and the American people, with its 13 stripes representing the 13 colonies that fought for their independence, against the tyrannical superpower of its time, not as a military force, but as a group of rebels equipped with only hope, grit, and determination. Stars taken from the skies illustrate our individual states, and its colors, RED representing blood, war and courage that allowed for our freedoms, BLUE standing for justice and freedom, and WHITE representing purity.
